Crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes) appear over time as we age because of persistent small muscle contractions. Anti-ageing eye treatments such as Anti-Wrinkle Injections have been used for over 20 years and are both safe and effective in treating lines and wrinkles around the eyes, frown lines and forehead lines. Otherwise, dermal fillers can soften the appearance but will not prevent further wrinkles. See Anti-Wrinkle Injections for more information.

As we age, the delicate skin under the eye becomes lax and the cheek fat descends into the middle of the face leaving semi-circular creases and depressions known as tear troughs. These depressions make the eyes look ‘sunken’ and produce the illusion of darkening around the eyes resulting in ‘dark circles’ or ‘tired eyes’. The loss of volume that occurs under the eyes can be improved using dermal fillers. At The Laser and Skin Clinics, we use Hyaluronic (HA) acid dermal fillers to treat under eye hollowness. Lifting these depressions can take away the tired appearance associated with volume loss in the eye area. Introduced under the skin using very fine needles or cannulae, dermal fillers recreate the plump, firm foundation your delicate under-eye area had previously.

Although rare, swelling and bruising may occur and can last for approximately 2-7 days. The results can last up to 6-12 months. Unevenness is rare; however, given the formulation of the product, it can be readily dissolved.

Dermal fillers can also help to reduce the appearance of dark circles by improving shadows caused hollowness. It is not possible to entirely remove dark circles under the eyes. However, there are techniques available that can reduce their appearance. See Dermal Fillers for more information.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), also known as Vampire Facial, can assist in reducing the appearance of dark circles by promoting collagen production and increasing the thickness and vitality of the under-eye area skin.
