Microneedling Pen vs. Roller What’s the difference?

Microneedling Pen vs. Microneedling Roller what’s the difference? Let’s get down to the nitty gritty…

We’ve all heard of the term ‘micro needling’, indeed a lot of clinics and salons still provide microneedling for skin rejuvenation using traditional ‘derma roller’ devices. Technology has thankfully moved forward with the invention of the medical ‘ microneedling pen’, which is a much more advanced and effective method for skin rejuvenation.

Both Microneedling Pen and Microneedling Rollers are forms of microneedling used to stimulate the production of new collagen by needling the skin. Microneedling causes micro-injuries to the epidermis, which signals the body to produce collagen to remodel the damaged area, which in effect rejuvenates the skin making your skin look younger and fresher and effective treats an array of common skin concerns such as acne scarring, lines and wrinkles, uneven skin texture, stretch marks, hair thinning and more…

So, if both the microneedling pen and roller are both forms of microneedling then what makes them so different?

  1. More precise:

Microneedling pens can easily treat those hard to reach areas such as around the eyes, nose and upper lip whereas it is more difficult to reach these areas with traditional rollers.

  1. Customised treatment:

Needle depth can be adjusted with Microneedling Pen whereas the Microneedling Rollers can only reach a single depth. The benefit of adjusting needle depth allows us to cater to different areas of the face that require different penetration levels for best results.

This is extremely important when treating specific skin concerns such as acne scarring or delicate areas of the face such as the eye area.

  1. Less epidermal damage resulting in minimal down time

The needles in Microneedling Pens penetrate the skin vertically whereas with Microneedling rollers the needles penetrate the skin at an angle causing more chance of ‘tears’ through the skin leading to more side effects and therefore longer recovery time.

  1. Fast treatment with minimal discomfort

As Rejuvapen has a built in motorised system it is more precise and accurate on its depth of penetration and can penetrate the skin from up to 100 times per second with an adjustable speed whereas speed cannot be adjusted with Dermarollers as this is dependent on the handlers technique. Being able to adjust the speed minimises skin damage, pain and recovery time.
