Crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes) appear over time as we age because of persistent small muscle contractions. Anti-ageing eye treatments such as Anti-Wrinkle Injections have been used for over 20 years and are both safe and effective in treating lines and wrinkles around the eyes, frown lines and forehead lines. Otherwise dermal fillers can soften the appearance but will not prevent further wrinkles. See Anti-Wrinkle Injections for more information.
If you are looking for alternative options to injectable treatments Laser Rejuvenation and Dermapen Micro needling can also soften the appearance of crow’s feet and wrinkles around the eyes.
Tear Trough Under Eye Hollowness
As we age the delicate skin under the eye becomes lax and the cheek fat descends into the middle of the face leaving semi-circular creases and depressions known as tear troughs. These depressions make the eyes look ‘sunken’ and produce the illusion of darkening around the eyes resulting in ‘dark circles’ or ‘tired eyes’. The loss of volume that occurs under the eyes can be improved using dermal fillers. At The Laser and Skin Clinic we use Hyaluronic (HA) acid dermal fillers treat under eye hollowness. By lifting these depressions, it can take away the tired appearance associated with volume loss in the eye area. Introduced under the skin using very fine needles or cannulae, dermal fillers re-create the plump, firm foundation your delicate under eye area had previously.
Although rare, swelling and bruising may occur and can last for approximately 2-7 days. The results can last up to 6-12 months. Unevenness is rare however, given the formulation of the product it can be readily dissolved.
Dark Under Eye Circles
Dermal fillers can also help to reduce the appearance of dark circles by improving shadows caused hollowness. It is not possible to fully remove dark circles under the eyes, however there are techniques available that can reduce their appearance. See Dermal Fillers for more information.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) also known as Vampire Facial can assist in reducing the appearance of dark circles by promoting collagen production and increasing the thickness and vitality of the under-eye area skin. Caffeine-rich cream has been shown to reduce the appearance of dark circles, by reducing puffiness and swelling. See Platelet Rich Plasma for more information.
RioBlush Carboxytherapy treatment is also a popular anti-ageing eye treatments to reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. For best results our skin specialist may recommend a combination of rejuvenation treatments to achieve the best results.
The Laser and Skin Clinic have a number of anti-ageing eye treatments to improve and tighten loose skin around the eye area including Ultherapy, Active Deep FX Laser Resurfacing, Affirm Laser Rejuvenation, Viora Reaction Skin Tightening and Dermapen which help to stimulate collagen and elastin and in some cases thicken the appearance of thin skin. See Ultherapy for more information.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a fantastic, natural treatment for improving skin texture and elasticity under the eyes. It uses your own plasma to stimulate further production of collagen and naturally improves fine lines and wrinkles the look of your skin. See Platelet Rich Plasma anti-ageing eye treatments for more information.
Mesotherapy is a hydrating treatment that aids in repairing and nourishing the skin’s dermis under the eyes. Once the skin has regained its tone and elasticity, the complexion appears more radiant. Mesotherapy treatments consist of a series of superficial micro-injections made up of Hyaluronic. 4-6 treatments are recommended for the eye area. Mesotherapy can also be used on other facial areas, neck and décolletage. See Mesotherapy for more information.
Low eyebrows may not have been at the top of your list of ageing signs to watch out for but Anti-Wrinkle Injections are now commonly used to lift the brow to give a fresher, more awake appearance. Dermal fillers such as can also be used create a lifting effect over the eyebrow area. See Anti-Wrinkle Injections for more information.
