Aging Hands

The hands are often one of the first areas to show visible signs of ageing. Like the face, the skin of the hands is exposed to ultraviolet light and environmental damage throughout life, while also experiencing age-related reductions in collagen, elastin, hydration and underlying volume.

Over time, the skin can become thinner and more crepey, with wrinkles, pigmentation and sun spots becoming increasingly visible. Loss of volume from the back of the hands can also make tendons, bones and veins appear more prominent, contributing to a more aged appearance even when the face has been well maintained.Hand rejuvenation is therefore rarely about treating one concern alone. Pigmentation may respond best to laser or light-based treatment, while skin boosters can improve hydration and skin quality and carefully placed dermal filler can restore lost volume and soften the appearance of prominent tendons and veins.
